Heidi Novak (Primary Elementary Teacher)

Hi, my name is Heidi Novak, and I am excited to join the MPSA community. Since receiving my Early Childhood Credential in 2002 from the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies, I have worked in both private and public Montessori schools in Maryland. In 2006, I received an M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education at Trinity University with a concentration in Montessori. In addition to working as a teacher, I also work at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies as an Instructor and the Intern Coordinator. I enjoy working with future teachers as they begin their Montessori journeys.

I was born in London, England, but have lived in Maryland since 1984.  I attended Salisbury State University for undergrad. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and running. I have completed races in distances from 5k all the way up to a 50k. While running has many physical benefits, it also helps to develop skills such as determination, motivation, planning, flexibility, and confidence. All of these are skills that I hope to foster in the children in my classroom.
