September is National Suicide Prevention Month
Throughout the year, and particularly in September, mental health advocates, prevention organizations,survivors, allies and community members unite to promote suicide prevention awareness throughout the nation. The resources listed below can help to know howto talk to others about suicidal thoughts, and understanding what supports are available for those in need.
The Virginia Department of Education Suicide Prevention contains information and resources for students, parents, and school personnel on suicide prevention;

- Lock and Talk Resources for Schools provides useful resources for school on suicide prevention
- How to Ask Someone About Suicide includes ten tips for school staff or parents on talking to youth about suicide
